Common DoorKing Failures We Repair
The symptoms that fill our DoorKing service calls, and what each usually means:
- Humming but not moving. The classic failed start capacitor, or a gate binding on its wheels or hinges so the motor cannot overcome the drag. Both are inexpensive repairs.
- Clicking with no hum. A relay or control board fault, or no power reaching the operator. We check the breaker, transformer, and board fuses before blaming any part.
- Beeping or flashing fault indicators. The board is reporting a safety input problem: a blocked or misaligned photo eye, a damaged loop wire, or a force setting drifting out of range.
- Limit switch drift. The gate stops short, hits the stop hard, or reopens on its own. Limit assemblies wear and shift with age; adjustment or replacement restores clean travel.
- Remotes or receiver dead. Sometimes reprogramming, sometimes a failed receiver, occasionally interference. All fixable without touching the operator itself.
- Gate stuck fully open or closed. Mechanical (chain, gear reduction) or electrical (board, capacitor). A manual release test tells us which.
